Glenn Holland

Fraud Alert: Glenn Roderick Holland, paedophile, pretend-photographer and David Hamilton's webmaster

Glenn Holland does not keep word to pay his debts

On October 02, 2004 I sold the domain "surfport.com" - a domain I had both owned and used since 1997 - to Glenn Holland for $700.00 NZ after he contacted me asking if I would sell it to him. As a sign of good faith I modified the admin contact for the domain name to Glenn Holland, glenn.holland@mac.com PO Box 56 089, Auckland 1003, New Zealand Telephone:  +64 (21) 627 265 and took Glenn's word that he would pay me in accordance with the Bill of Sale reproduced at the bottom of this page.

Glenn also has the following other contact information:

glenn@glenn-holland.net || GlennHolland@Magic-Image.com || Tel.: +49 (173) 607 1207

While Glenn Holland has praises from David Hamilton, born 1933, to whom he also links and sells memberships for from the new surport.com web site ( He is also David Hamilton's webmaster) I have to question the integrity of a man who promises to pay for something, and then not only refuses to pay but also ignores all phone messages and emails sent to him. I have left messages fro Glenn at both his New Zealand and his Hamburg phone numbers. He has never replied nor forwarded the $700.00 NZ he owes me.

I have seen deadbeats through most of my profession. It's no longer about the $700.00 plus my time and expenses in trying to collect it, however, I will want Glenn to pay what is owing to me. I thought others should know about Glenn's character before they spend money taking out a membership on David Hamilton's site or Glenn's Magic Image site.

Since publishing this information I have learned that Glenn Holland is a convicted paedophile and he served two years in a Sydney, Australia jail for six sex crimes with a child.

There is also another web site with alerts to parents about safe-guarding their daughters from Glenn Holland.

Obviously, a warning not to do any business with Glenn is secondary to keeping your children as far away from him as possible!

Below is an excerpt from a self-described Glenn Holland. I think Glenn should update this to speak to his honesty.

"Glenn was born in New Zealand but, these days, spends most of his time in Hamburg, Germany, (where he struggles to find enough time to improve his Deutsch — but that’s another story!) He is a full-time photographer and webmaster but, In a former life, after studying science, mathematics and accounting at university, he was CEO of the finance and property development arm of a major listed group then a management accountant. He’s also been involved at the top end of the pop music industry (where egos are, if anything, even bigger than in the world of art photography). Before moving to Germany he also spent many years living in Brisbane and Sydney in Australia and also Laguna Beach in California. Glenn is a director of two small companies — Magic Image Ltd and David Hamilton Gallery Ltd — and two newer ones, Surfport GbR and Net Bankers Ltd. In the past he held other directorships including of a large public company, Adrenalin Technologies Ltd. Surfport is a tightly-focused multimedia company with offices in Hamburg, Germany; Auckland, New Zealand; St Tropez, France and Moscow, Russia that runs web sites on behalf of some clients from the top end of the photography industry and elsewhere. It also does other things and has some interesting projects in the pipeline.Glenn’s first Magic Image office and the office of his original design team were in a quiet part of suburban Hamburg. These days, administration is from a more-substantial office in downtown Hamburg, with small outposts in Auckland, Moscow, St Tropez and Riga.

The History Glenn acknowledges immediately a huge debt of gratitude to world-famous art photographer David Hamilton, who pioneered a soft-focus style that bears his name. Working with young girls, Hamilton produced so many enchanting images that he is almost certainly the most popular and successful art photographer the world has ever known. Many photographers around the world fell in love with Hamilton’s work and tried to duplicate his beautiful results with varying degrees of success or, more likely, failure.For over 40 years throughout the sixties, seventies, eighties and nineties, Hamilton worked in every corner of the world photographing an endless procession of pretty girls in their early teens and sometimes younger. He had clients from the top end of society, politics and business. His works hang or have hung in many great homes and famous places around the world — the US Library of Congress, the palace of the Danish Royal Family, famous museums and art galleries, many fine homes owned by household names. The art world celebrated him, other photographers envied him, girls loved working with him and the public supported him in their millions.Glenn met Hamilton in the early eighties (oddly, not in connection with photography but in relation to a music project). They quickly became friends and, today, Glenn and his team manage Hamilton’s own large and successful web presence and provide support for other Hamilton business interests.Glenn’s career took a step forward when, in 1985 and later, he took some pictures and did other work with models for David in New Zealand. Hamilton has worked seriously with six New Zealand girls and Glenn found all of them for him. (See, for example, the outside back cover of Hamilton’s book Age of Innocence. She was 13-year-old Jennie from just south of Auckland. (Glenn’s own pictures of her are on this site. Can you find them?)It was no coincidence that Rachel Hunter, whom David helped to become a world-famous superstar model, was a regular at a kids’ nightclub in New Zealand that Glenn owned in the eighties. She modelled for David in 1985 and the rest is history.Glenn has met former Hamilton models who went on to send their daughters to David for the same fairytale experience. He has even witnessed total strangers approaching Hamilton on the street with "Please photograph my daughter" and similar breathless requests. Managing the Hamilton web site, he fields a daily influx of emails from around the world: photographers seeking advice, former models asking which book they are in, girls or their parents sending pictures keen to work with him. Not to mention an almost endless torrent of requests for long-out-of-print Hamilton books, videos, prints and posters.David is virtually retired now and some might fantasize about his crown being up for grabs. But not many of today’s photographers would want to make a play for it because the essence of the Hamilton mystique is not so much in the soft-focus rendering but in his choice of subject-matter: The Young Girl.Throughout Hamilton’s career his work almost never raised an eyebrow but today, sadly, the climate is different thanks, mainly to an insane witch-hunt originated by a few strange and dangerous people in America and adopted by the unthinking and the sycophantic in other English-speaking countries. One must think twice before even giving any young girl an admiring glance in the street let alone seeking to photograph her, specially — gasp — with no clothes on!This mindless panic over the erotic appeal of some young girls has touched many other great photographers who once stood with cameras aimed at so many of them — Jock Sturges, Sally Mann, Ron Oliver, Jacques Bourboulon, Mauro Bertoncello, Don Marcus, to name just a very small number.Glenn is not easily cowed though and he continues to work, to the relief of his supporters, though paying a price for sticking to his principles. Fortunately, his supporters outnumber his critics a hundred to one. The results are here on this site.
