northStudio Wins Contract for Laurentian University 'Professions North' Initiative
The 'Proffesions North' program is funded by the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration and meant to provide support for new Canadians toward accreditation and employment so that they can proceed in the field for which they trained in their native country. The Laurentian University Management Development Centre (under the Faculty of Management) was awarded funding over a 3-year period to develop services for internationally-trained immigrants in the north. A number of service windows will be established, approximately 64 through Contact North sites plus a head office in Sudbury and a slightly more involved service window in North Bay, Timmins, Sault, and Thunder Bay. The majority of our services will be designed for clients who seek a finance of accounting designation for which there are 5 accreditation bodies in Canada. Other disciplines, such as health, social work, engineering and so forth, can use the first level of service at Professions North/Nord.
