JURIS Arbitration Law is a database platform covering virtually all forms of domestic and international arbitration. It contains more than 13,000+ Digital Documents including chapters, journal articles, commentary, analysis, awards, court decisions, and more.

The Project

Drupal Support and Maintenance

JURIS Arbitration Law partnered with North Studio to build a fully robust advanced search function with multiple search categories and custom filters. We also created a custom workflow to enable users to be able to search within PDF documents on a massive scale. As this was unprecedented within the Drupal CMS, many custom written modifications were needed to facilitate this feature.

We were also assigned to build an advanced reporting mechanism for purchase reporting within the commerce platform. This was a fully robust system with downloading capabilities, in addition to an advanced filtering system.

Easy content management was our main objective. JURIS wanted to be able to create landing pages with the use of reusable block additions that were fully mobile responsive with rich media experiences right out of the box.

One of the main challenges we overcame was creating a highly flexible user role system with a number of different permission levels. Accessing certain product types while considering the various different subscriptions was not an easy task to say the least.

Custom Module Development

One of the biggest challenges was to search within premium PDF files. These files were hidden and not always reachable uisng the Search API. Considering this we had to write a custom module to extend the capabilities of the search system, find the PDF files associated with the content, and index them. This type of custom work is what we live and breathe, if there is a unique problem our team is up to the challenge

Features

We used Drupal’s powerful Search API to create a new index in Apache Solr. Since JURIS wanted the logical operators inside the query, Solr was the answer for this project. We also needed to use Apache Tika Server to extract the content of the PDF files and index them within our Solr server

The main goal of the website is to serve certain subscriptions to their clients. Each subscription type allows a user to access to certain content in the website. On top of that, clients can also buy physical and virtual books.

We implemented every possible combination to the ecommerce system by writing custom modules using the Drupal API, such as user roles and permissions.

The Drupal Upgrade

For the Advanced Reporting task, Drupal is the perfect cut out. Using the powerful views module and with some custom work, we delivered a very capable reporting system for the client.

Content management an important part in any website, that’s why we deliver a very flexible content management system leveraging our years of experience. We have built a very easy to use mechanism using paragraphs, entity construction kit, and views blocks to be integrated as a content inside any section in the landing page.

Continued Support + Maintenance

Juris is currently on a monthly support retainer with North Studio and receives tasking from several different departments and divisions for the Drupal site. We look forwward to implementing all of thier print assets into the digital world.
